What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive has been put in place by the European Community to promote the collection, recycling and recovery targets for all types of electrical goods and equipment. In short, the WEEE Directive sets responsibility for the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment on businesses that manufacture, import and re-brands such equipment.

What are WEEE regulations?

These regulations require that all waste electrical items be stored and treated separately to other waste streams to ensure maximum re-use and recycling. Domestic electrical waste can normally be recycled at your local civic amenity facility.
